About the Colwood Clinic
The City of Colwood's ("the City") 2023 Household Prosperity Survey showed that the single most important issue to many Colwood residents was that they didn't have a family physician.
The Colwood Clinic ("the Clinic") is a new clinic providing family doctors to residents of Colwood. The family doctors are recruited and employed by the City of Colwood, and the clinic is leased and managed by the City of Colwood.
The City's business case for the Clinic showed that the Colwood Clinic could connect 10,000 Colwoodians with a family physician by the fifth year of operation, with no ongoing impact on municipal tax funding.
This pilot project represents a new way of delivering care within the existing medical system, made possible by forward thinking improvements made by the Ministry of Health in 2022 with the introduction of the Longitudinal Family Practice program.
